This paper is to explore the Tzu Fu of Lu You, an eminent literary figure of Southern-Sung. The essential points of the paper will be presented as follows: 1. The time of Lu You's Tzu Fu. 2. The topical subjects of Lu You's Tzu Fu. 3. The style and meter of Lu You's Tzu Fu. 4. The idiosyncrasies of Lu You's Tzu Fu. The seven pieces of Lu You's writing were approximately created from 1157 to 1187. He began to his term as an official position until he retired to the country about thirty years. As his ages and experiences increasing, these had great effects upon the works of Lu You's Tzu Fu. Moreover, Lu You, in his Tzu Fu, expressed his thought in the following aspects: 1. The topical subjects aspect. Lu You held that one who governed a nation should be aware of political tactics. He also respected the retirement in his official career, his lofty aspirations unrealized, the transcendence of the material world, and the literary works from nature. 2. The style and meter aspect. Lu You's Tzu Fu contained three types: ”Sau-ti-Fu”, ”Wen-ti-Fu” and ”Pien-ti-Fu”. 3. The idiosyncrasies aspect. Lu You adopted the manner to use past to disparage present. He also selected the strokes, for example, to discuss the truth after describing the beautiful scenery, to express his sentiment after depicting other things, to state his views frankly. All these features exemplify the literary achievement of Lu You's Tzu Fu, account for his reputation and certainly will guarantee the immortality of his works.
