The objective of this survey was to investigate the factors related to canine oral health condition by using dental record and questionnaires. A total of 120 anesthetized dogs in the Nation Taiwan University Veterinary Hospital were included in this study. The collected data including the rate and degree of dental calculi and gingivitis, age, gender, body weight, and the dietary factors from questionnaires was statistically analyzed. The gingival scores elevated with the calculus scores and the number of missing teeth. Dental calculi and gingivitis are more severe in dogs of male gender, lighter body weight, older age, and without dental chewing materials. Gingival scores are more elevated in dogs eating home cooked food. Sterilization, body condition scoring, and dietary habit were not significantly associated with dental calculi and gingivitis.
