In this paper, we explore the nature of success of hidden champions (HCEs) acclaimed by Herman Simon in the field of management, according Panel data in the period 2001-2007 of non-listed companies in China. The purpose of the paper is to find a view to cracking the plight of SME growth. On the basis of integrating the concept of definition given by academics and constructing evaluation index of hidden champions, we estimate the major variables influencing the growth of hidden champions. We find that there exists a negative correlation between technological innovation, focus and enterprise growth in hidden champions of China. Moreover, the ability of international market control contributes to business growth is not statistically significant. High growth of hidden champions in China don't represent a new strategic choice, but rational choice in the established system. The conclusion of this paper tends to falsify ”invisible champion China miracle” hypothesis.
