苦瓜萃取物調節血糖功效實驗研究

Extracts of Bitter Melon in Regulating Sugar Blood of Diabetes Mellitus patients

摘要


目的:國內糖尿病罹病率與人數居高不下,對於國內健康照護支出造成巨大負荷。本研究之目的在於探討糖尿病患者服用苦瓜萃取物保健食品,對於血糖控制之效果。研究問題為投入苦瓜萃取物對於糖尿病患的糖化血色素與空腹血糖值是否有顯著差異。研究方法:實驗法之研究設計,以地處山區之南投縣糖尿病患41人,隨機編列為實驗組與對照組,實驗組平均年齡為63.28 ± 15.99歲,對照組,平均年齡為62.00 ± 8.82歲,兩組無顯著差異。期初糖化血色素分別為實驗組7.81 ± 1.69%,對照組7.47 ± 1.19%,無顯著差異(p=.486>.05);空腹血糖值實驗組140.72 ± 6.89mg/dL,對照組127.96 ± 44.18,無顯著差異(p=.428>.05)。以苦瓜萃取物為介入三個月,檢驗各組糖化血色素與空腹血糖值之期初與期末變化。結果:以成對樣本t檢定,發現實驗組介入後,FG自140.72 ± 56.89mg/dL降為120.00 ± 45.16mg/dL(p=.01<.05), HbA1c自7.81 ± 1.69%降為7.44 ± 1.43%(p=.04<.05),都具有統計上顯著差異;對照組的FG自127.96 ± 44.18mg/dL反升為131.86 ± 55.11mg/dL(p=.151>.05), HbA1c自7.47 ± 1.19%降為7.44±1.43%(p=.532>.05),均無統計顯著差異。結論:苦瓜萃取物證實可以改善受試糖尿病患之糖化血色素與空腹血糖水準,有助血糖之控制。

Purpose: The incur rate of diabetes mellitus and the number of victims are stay high in Taiwan, causing a huge load on domestic health care expenditures. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of a newly invented health foods on diabetic patients' glycemic control. Research question is whether there is a significant difference in the glycated hemoglobin and fasting blood glucose after the intervention of bitter melon extracts for diabetic patients. Materials and Methods: The current research was an experimental design. 41 diabetic patients in Nantou County, of which located in the mountainous area, were randomly assigned to the experimental group and the control group. The average age of the experimental group was 63.28 ± 15.99 years, and the control group, the average age was 62.00 ± 8.82 years, these two groups had no significant difference. The glycated hemoglobin at the beginning of the experiment was 7.81 ± 1.69% for the experimental group and 7.47 ± 1.19% for the control group with no significant difference (p=.486>.05); the fasting blood glucose for experimental group was 140.72 ± 56.89 mg/dL, and the control group was 127.96 ± 44.18 with no significant difference (p=.428>.05). The bitter melon extracts was used for three months to test the initial and end-stage changes of glycated hemoglobin and fasting blood glucose levels in each group. Results: A paired sample t test was adopted to test the difference between initial and end end-stage values. Test results indicated that after intervention of the experimental group, FG decreased from 140.72 ± 56.89 mg/dL to 120.00 ± 45.16 mg/dL (p=.01<.05), and HbA1c decreased from 7.47 ± 1.19% to 7.44 ± 1.43. % (p=.04<.05), all had statistically significant differences; the FG of the control group increased from 127.96 ± 44.18 mg/dL to 131.86 ± 55.11 mg/dL (p=.151>.05), HbA1c from 7.81 ± 1.69% decreased to 7.44 ± 1.43% (p = .532>.05), and no statistically significant difference were found. Conclusion: The bitter melon extract has been found significantly improve glycated hemoglobin and fasting blood glucose levels among diabetic patients, helping to control blood sugar.
