The purpose of this project was to reduce the time it took to administer state medications and to improve the quality of patient care. Before our interventions, administering state medications took an average of 38.5 minutes and consumed 37 percent of our time, exceeding hospital policy regarding the administration of drugs to shorten the time, we used six interventions. We (1) set up a new area for the charts with new medicine orders, (2) revised the nursing routine, (3) formulated a standard procedure for processing prescriptions, (4) communicated with the administrators of other departments, (5) posted a special card in the front of charts, and (6) coordinated the assistants and volunteers To assist in the transfer of medications. The outcome of these interventions were that we reduced the administration of state medications by 4.41%. This also promoted the cooperation among offices and improved work efficiency and nursing quality.
