摘要

本文旨在探討失智症老人在口腔健康狀況評估及護理，目的是在針對有口腔健康不佳的失智老人，進行有效的評估，才能進一步做到早期發現早期預防，並擬定合宜的護理照護策略。失智老人隨著病情的進展，將影響其認知、情緒、生活功能，或者出現問題行為的情況下入住 護理之家。失智症老人也可能因口腔健康不佳而產生負面情緒，進而引發問題行為。因此，運用口腔健康評估量表的評估方式、現實導向法及正確刷牙步驟的流程圖之護理照護策略，對失智症老人口腔健康於護理之家的問題行為是有必要性。而此評估方式與照護策略的發展，將有助於機構對失智症老人的口腔健康管理。

This paper aims to discuss the assessment of oral health and nursing care for the elderly with dementia. To achieve the goals of early detection, early prevention and proper nursing strategies, an effective evaluation on the oral health conditions of the elderly with dementia is required. The elderly with dementia may be admitted to the nursing institutes along with impaired cognition, emotions, living abilities or even with the existence of problematic behaviors due to the progression of the disease. In addition, problematic behaviors among the elderly with dementia may be caused by poor oral health-induced negative mood. Therefore, novel oral health assessment scale assessment methods, reality orientation therapy, and proper brushing step flowchart as well as nursing strategies for the elderly with dementia in nursing homes are necessary. The development of the evaluation and nursing strategy will be beneficial to the management of oral health for the elderly with dementia residing in nursing institutes.
