The report describes the emergency nursing experience of a Status Asthma attack elderly male patient. The patient's condition was assessed by interviews, observations, physical assessment and chart review. Nursing problems concluded from the assessing data were ineffective respiratory pattern, anxiety, and knowledge deficit. During the nursing period, we respected his will to choose Biphasic Positive Airway Pressure (Bi-PAP) mask instead of endotracheal tube intubation, which would facilitate effective ventilation. The other nursing care included symptoms care, disease-related health education, and empathy application. Finally, by helping the patient to overcome this crisis and learn self-care of asthma disease, the quality of life and asthma control for the patient and his families could be improved.
