Concept mapping is a concise and explicit teaching tool that has been progressively adopted in nursing education in recent years. The purpose of this study is to explore nursing students of their attitude toward concept mapping learning and the learning effect. Subjects were 60 nursing students in a two-year RN baccalaureate program of a junior medical college with purposive sampling technique. The students were introduced concept mapping while taking a nursing concept course At the end of the course they were asked to fill out a questionnaire concerning concept mapping learning and to hand in a learning report with concept map. Descriptive, correlation and factor analysis were used to analyze the data. The findings were: (1) Students generally viewed positively toward learning with concept map. There was a positive relationship between the attitude toward concept learning and job position. The higher the job position, the more positive the attitude (2) Data revealed that concept mapping was also helpful to individual, one's academic study, job, even to family life. 75% of the students expressed that they would apply concept mapping in other areas of learning such as reading, job and daily living. The value of applying concept mapping in nursing education was appreciated from this experience. Further application of teaching concept mapping to other courses of the program was highly recommended.
