Sudden deafness means sudden onset of sensorineural hearing loss. Most victims of sudden deafness tend to go to ENT clinic for help. While steroids is currently recognized as the main conventional treatment for sudden deafness, Chinese medicine treatment is also an option for whom were not satisfied with the treatment effect. This case is a 57-year-old male, a victim of sudden deafness, who was first treated in the primary clinic, and then transferred to the medical center for hospitalization, since the treatment effect was not as expected. A combination of acupuncture and hyperbaric oxygen therapy was applied one week later after the disease onset. The Chinese medicine pattern of the case is diagnosed as kidney qi insufficiency and liver qi stagnation. The method of acupuncture treatment focused on soothing the liver, regulating qi and tonifying kidney qi. During the hospitalization, three acupuncture treatments were given. The hearing of affected side returned to the healthy side level two weeks later after the onset.
