The incidence of lung cancer has increased rapidly; lung cancer is the most common cause of cancer deaths in both men and women worldwide. Despite advances in treatment, such as combination chemotherapy and chemoradiation, survival rate has improved very little over the past few decades. The 5-year survival rate for all stages is less than 15%. As revealed in the recent published literature, stage I lung cancer has the best result after surgery, with five year survival rate around 50-75%, followed by 30-50% in stage Ⅱ and 5-25% left in stage Ⅲ lung cancer. The most common recurrent period was within 2 years after surgical resection. Clinically, distant metastasis happens more frequently than the local recurrence.
