Malignant fungating wound (MFW) is complex and difficult to cure. It often induces pain, malodour, exudate and hemorrhage. These symptoms may have physiological, psychological, social and spiritual impacts on the cancer patients. Therefore, this article aims to describe the characteristics of MFW and the physiological, psychological, social and spiritual impacts on the cancer patients with introduction of the MFW assessment and good strategies to care for these cancer patients with MFW. We hope this article can be applied in clinical practice and as a reference in the MFW holistic care in order to provide better care and improve quality of life for cancer patients.
