Cancer is one of the most life-threatening diseases around the world. Fortunately, advanced cancer screening and cancer treatments have led to longer cancer survival. Patients with longer survival time might face more challenges and distress across the cancer process from acute and or/ chronic maintaining treatments, long-term survival to terminal stages. Moreover, these diseases and/or treatments related to side effects, psychological distress, and functional declining might increase potential care problems and care needs. To enhance patients' care quality, assessment of and dealing with unmet care needs are important. This paper aims to explore cancer patients' care needs, their related factors and assessment tools. It will help health care professionals better understand for providing better need-based cancer care.
