離散、方言與啟蒙:《新小說》雜誌上廖恩燾的新粵謳

摘要


粵謳雖以粵方言寫成,產生和流通於粵方言區域,但到了近現代時期這種地方性的、舊風格的文類,經由晚清文人的改造,變成了用以書寫時事,參與啟蒙與新民的重要文類。本文討論的是廖恩燾於1903-1905年間在南美洲古巴所寫、後經逃亡在外的梁啟超斟選發表於《新小說》上的22首新粵謳。這些粵謳可稱為時政謳、啟蒙謳,其主旨鮮明,宣傳目標與《新小說》的大方向同步同調。這些新粵謳在文體風格上一改原粵謳的婉約柔弱之風格而鍛造了一種剛健、辛辣、豪邁的風格,在內容上則大大擴寬了其書寫的主題,從原本的書寫風月情事轉而變成書寫時代風雲,使這種文體擔負起啟蒙民眾、新民新國的重任。這種新粵謳是為詩界革命的一大收穫。

Although Cantonese Love Songs were written in Cantonese dialect and circulated in the Cantonese speaking area, this genre transformed into a modern form through the hand of some late Qing intellectuals like Liao Entao, in order to meet the need of awakening people and making a new nation. This article discusses Liao Entao's 22 new Cantonese love songs that were written in Cuba in 1903-1905, and were selected by the exiled intellectual Liang Qichao to to be published in the "New Fiction" Magazine. This type of new Cantonese love songs could be called political songs in this period. Its main purpose is obviously identical with Liang's purpose of launching the "New Fiction" Magazine. Liao reforms Cantonese love songs from a sentimental and gentle style to a vigorous and more political style. In this sense, the new Cantonese love songs bear an important mission of enlightening the people and renew the nation. Liao's new Cantonese love songs were a great achievement for the Poetry Revolution.
