The objectives of this study are to understand the public recognition of community forestry, and to assess how community power can be used to promote the development of community forestry. The Jin-an community in Taipei city was selected as the case study area, and questionnaire survey was used for the analysis. Furthermore, the development progress of community forestry at the Jin-an community was also investigated. Results showed that age is a major factor influencing the willingness of participating community activities. The age group between 40-49 years old is more active than others. In contrast, the age group over 60 years old is least interested in participation. The awareness of information regarding community development is different at different education levels. Respondents at lower education level appeared to be more aware of community information than those at higher education levels.
