”Causality” is an ancient and ubiquitous concept, but its meaning remains ambiguous. This article seeks to present a systematic interpretation of causality by examining the contrasting accounts advanced by empiricism and critical realism. Analyzing the different theoretical foundations, notions of necessity, and notions of scientific explanation will do this investigation.
