Evaluation of the Application of Computed Radiographic Mammography in Breast Needle Localization

摘要

The aim of this study was to assess the diagnostic value of the Computed Radiography (CR) system by using the Triangulation of lesions to perform needle localization. From January 2004 to August 2007, 88 patients were carried out breast needle localization. Seventy-three patients underwent needle localization with screen-film mammography (SFM) and 15 patients underwent needle localization with CR system. By using independent samples t test, statistically significant was found that total procedure time was short 28% with CR than with SFM (p<0.001). In addition, performing needle localization with CR system allows the 25-45 lbs of pressure to be shortened by reducing 7 minutes. In conclusion, as performing needle localization with CR system could locate precisely and more time efficient, this method would contribute substantially some owning CR system hospitals with traditional developing x-ray film machine to achieve more economic overall picture archiving and communication systems (PACS).
