A Case of an Average CT in Thoracic Cavity PET/CT for Respiration-induced Artifacts

摘要


正子電腦斷層融合影像提供了解剖位置和生理功能資訊。但是,由於正子電腦斷層影像(PET)和螺旋電腦斷層影像(HCT),兩種不同檢查儀器在執行檢查有不同時間差別,造成結果是患者呼吸產生融合影像的相對位置不準和移動假影進而影響到衰減校正後的影像。平均呼吸週期電腦斷層(ACT)和正子電腦斷層檢查具有相似的時間分辨率(temporal resolution),此方法已被證實可以改善的電腦斷層和正子電腦斷層兩者數據在胸腔部位相對位置的對位及融合影像。在此,我們報告一位右側腮腺癌患者,這位患者於右側腮腺切除和放射治療後,安排正子電腦斷層檢查以進行追蹤。在正子電腦斷層檢查後,執行胸腔部份(cine CT)掃瞄,將資料後處理成為平均呼吸週期電腦斷層影像。平均呼吸週期電腦斷層影像和螺旋電腦斷層影像兩組資料使用相同的正子電腦斷層檢查資料做衰減校正。正子電腦斷層檢查數據(PET_(HCT))是使用螺旋電腦斷層影像來做衰減校正;正子電腦斷層檢查數據(PET_(ACT))是使用平均呼吸週期的電腦斷層影像來做衰減校正。兩組正子電腦斷層檢查之間的差異是採取量化分析(最大之標準攝取值)做比較。平均呼吸週期的電腦斷層影像來做影像衰減校正可以改善兩種不同檢查儀器在相對位置的對位且兩種不同檢查儀器最大之標準攝取值差異值有21%。

Positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) provides fusion of both anatomical and functional information. But, due to the temporal difference of positron emission tomography (PET) and helical computed tomography (HCT), the respiratory motion during PET acquisition leads to artifacts in PET/CT. Average computed tomography (ACT) and PET have a similar temporal resolution and it has been shown to improve registration of the computed tomography (CT) and PET data for PET/CT imaging of the thorax. In this article, we presented a patient of right parotid gland adenoid carcinoma had right parotid gland dissection and radiotherapy. The patient underwent a PET/CT scan for evaluation and following treatment planning. Then, the ACT data was obtained by cine CT scan for attenuation correction (AC) of the PET data. Both the ACT and the HCT data were used for AC of the same PET data. Differences between the two PET sets, the PET data corrected by HCT (PET_(HCT)) and the PET data corrected by ACT (PET_(ACT)), was quantified by analyzing image alignment and maximum of standard uptake value (SUV_(max)). The increase 21% in SUV_(max) and improved registration with PET_(ACT) compared to the results from PET_(HCT) was observed in this patient.
