A Comparative Study on Evaluation of the Eustachian tube by Valsalva Computed Tomography

摘要


評估使用瓦沙爾氏(Valsalva)電腦斷層掃描來觀察有鼻竇(Sinus)相關疾病受試者的歐式管內腔(Eustachian Tube Lumen)可行性。共計有45位受試者,進行鼻竇的電腦斷層掃描,並同時進行瓦沙爾氏測量法。沿著歐式管的轉軸進行多平面的重建(Multiplanar reconstruction)。評估影像以觀察歐式管的內腔的全長,用擴張及未擴張歐式管之比例和未執行瓦沙爾氏進行觀察。45位受試者(90耳),男性20名及女性25名,平均年齡為52歲。經電腦斷層檢查重組影像,執行瓦沙爾氏檢查法歐式管擴張及未擴張平均長度1.51 ± 0.22 cm及1.81 ± 0.24 cm,歐式管擴張及未擴張平均比率為0.86 ± 0.24。執行鼻竇檢查法歐式管擴張及未擴張平均長度0.40 ± 0.14 cm及2.92 ± 0.25 cm,歐式管擴張及未擴張平均比率為0.14 ± 0.05。使用瓦沙爾氏測量法可明顯分辨歐式管擴張長度增加。藉此技術及CT圖像佐證提供有鼻竇疾病患者歐式管病理狀態。

The paper attempted to assess the feasibility of observing Eustachian tube lumens of subjects with relevant sinus diseases via the Valsalva CT scan. There were totally 45 subjects. With their consents, the researcher conducted sinuses CT and executed the Valsalva measuring method at the same time. Following the spindle of the Eustachian tubes, the researcher carried out a Multiplanar reconstruction. The evaluation images were examined in a bid for observing the overall length of the Eustachian tube lumens. Furthermore, the study took the ratio between the dilated and non-dilated Eustachian tubes and those without undergoing the Valsalva method for observation. Among the 45 subjects (90 ears), there were 20 males and 25 females with an average age of 52 years. After checking recombination images via CT and execution of the Valsalva measuring method, the average lengths for dilated and non-dilated Eustachian tubes were 1.51 ± 0.22 cm and 1.81 ± 0.24 cm respectively, contributing to a ratio at 0.86 ± 0.24. For those who didn't go through the Valsalva measuring method, their average lengths for dilated and non-dilated Eustachian tubes were 0.40 ± 0.14 cm and 2.92 ± 0.25 cm respectively, contributing to a ratio at 0.14 ± 0.05 By employing the. In virtue of this technique and CT images, the study offer evidences regarding the pathological state of Eustachian tubes of patients suffering from sinuses.
