從表達意圖看社論標題的種類

A Study of Editorial Headlines Categories: From the Aspect of Expressive Intentions

摘要


報紙的標題必須在有限的字數之内簡明扼要地將文章内容傳達給讀請者。特別是社論等以説服讀者為目的的論説文,標題的寫法決定了傳遞文章主旨情報量的多寡。換言之,藉由刻意操作標題的寫法,讀者所感受到的文章主旨情報量也將隨之不同。因此,在標題之中,可説是存在著作者的某種表達意圖。本論文的目的在於根據作者的表達意圖針對社論的標題進行分類。以2000年朝日新聞的社論為對象,分兩階段進行考察。第一階段根據句末形態持659個標題分成8種16類。第二階段再依據作者的表達意圖,將第一階段的結果再行分類。得知結果如下:一、標題的句末型態和作者的表達意圖有某種程度的關係。二、社論的標題可分為3種不同的作者表達意圖:「要求行動型」「表達判斷型」「提起話題型」。

The function of newspaper headlines is to precisely but concisely convey messages to readers within very limited words, especially the headlines of persuasive argumentative treatises like editorials. As wordings of headlines bring impacts on how much information will be delivered, authors could purposely manipulate the wordings to influence readers' perception of the information. Headlines, thus, are embedded with authors' expressive intentions.This research is to categorize the editorial headlines on Asahi Newspaper of Year 2000 based on authors' expressive intentions. Two investigation stages are conducted. In the first stage, 659 headlines are categorized into 8 categories and 16 types according to the patterns of the sentence's end. In the second stage, t he headlines are further categorized according to authors' expressive intentions. The results are as follows:1. To some extent, there is relationship between the patterns of the sentence's end and authors' expressive intentions.2. Three types of authors' expressive intentions in editorial headlines could be categorized:”requesting actions,” ”expressing judgments,” and ”initiating topics.”
