Taiwanese Elements in Mitsuru Nisigawa's Novels: Discovery the Source of Exoticism

摘要

本文的目的在於對西川滿的中、短篇小説進行語言學上的分析，以探究其異國情趣風格的成因。分析的結果發現西川滿小説的異國情趣風格與其在語言文字上大量地使用臺灣要素有很大的關係。這些臺灣要素大致上可分為「人、時、地、事、物」五類，而這五類的臺灣要素可視為小説中的關鍵字。讀者不僅可以從中推測小説中的主要人物、時代、舞台等，也可看出作品之間的關聯性。

This paper is aimed at exploiting the way of linguistic analysis to discover the reason why Mitsuru Nisigawa's middle-length and short-length novels are full of Taiwanese exoticism. The analytic result shows that the exoticism existing in Mitsuru Nisigawa's novels has a strong correlation with the fact that he used an enormous number of Taiwan elements in his novels. Basically, these Taiwanese elements can be classified into five classes, i.e., people time, place, event and thing. They usually are the keywords of the analytic samples. With these elements, readers are able to easily figure out not only the roles, times and backgrounds of his novels but also the relationship among his novels.
