It has been 5 years since People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) of the People's Republic of China (PRC) launched the inaugural test of J-20 stealth fighter on January 11, 2011, and the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) has been aggressively modifying the prototype of J-20 jet. According to the latest media reports in 2016, the stealthy J-20 fighter is believed to have entered the phase of small-quantity production. It means that the Chinese aviation industry has already overcome various technical hurdles and the J-20 is able to reach initial operational capability. Though assessments of the J-20's functions are disparate, China's ability to produce advanced stealth fighters not only becomes a critical threat to its neighboring countries including Taiwan but also reveals China's ambition in expanding its influence.
