摘要

隨著政府對於兩性議題的重視與研究投入，女性智能障礙者相關議題也逐漸被探討，由於我國國情與文化，總是以私密與隱誨的態度來面對「月經」與「性事」等相關議題；女性智能障礙者與其主要照顧者對其「月經」的處理與態度行為，已從「個人」層面，延伸至整體社會價值的傳達，更透露國內社政與衛政的在處理特殊議題上的缺憾。本文主要是從以往文獻及相關論述了解女性智能障礙者對於月經與性事的態度，以及女性智能障礙者主要照顧者如何處理或面對女性智能障礙者的月經來潮等生理變化，並進一步探究女性智能障礙者對於自身身體性事或主導權等較為深層的意識價值，並嘗試針對此議題提供政府衛政及社政實質的政策方向。

People with intellectual disabilities (ID) experience communication problem, this limits them in expressing their concern about their own health and may not be able to make choices about their health and their lifestyle. Menstruation appears to be problematic for women with ID. Women's experience of menstruation is influenced by the way it is understood in the society they live in. The aim of the present paper is to address the issues of menstruation of women with ID, to describe the experience by the current references review. Furthermore, we also explore the thoughts and opinions of women with ID on the menstruation to themselves. It is therefore important to understand women with ID and caregivers' perception about their roles and responsibilities towards women with ID and their own, and determine how these may influence the management of menstruation.
