Contracture of Extensor Hallucis Longus Resulting from Fibular and Tibial Midshaft Fractures

Contracture of the extensor hallucis longus (EHL) after fractures is an uncommon condition. It causes deformity and limitation of the big toe. We report a case of 25-yearold woman had contracture of EHL after tibial and fibular midshaft fractures. The patient was successfully managed with Z-lengthening of the EHL tendon. This report highlights the rarity of the present case, which was possibly caused by fibular midshaft fracture and induced scarring of muscular origin.
