Objective: We aimed to explore the efficacy of breast balls massage on breast engorgement in postpartum women. Methods: This is an experimental-design study in which participants were randomly assigned to intervention and control groups, each with participants. The intervention group received a 30-minute balls massage each day while the control group received usual standard postpartum breast care. All participants were asked to fill in a self-rating breast engorgement scale before and after the intervention. The SPSS version 22.0 software was used to manage and analyze the data. A generalized estimating equation model was used to assess the differences between groups. Results: Both intervention and control groups had improvement on breast engorgement. GEE model evaluation showed significant difference (p < .001) between pre-intervention and post-intervention scores in both groups. However, the improvement in the intervention group was significantly greater than that in the control group. Conclusion: Breast pain, engorgement, hotness, and discomfort can be relieved by breast balls massage. It increases the quality of care and promotes continuing breast feeding.
