Calf muscle tear is usually treated conservatively. Fasciotomy will be needed when compartment syndrome occurs. Amnion matrix allograft has been applied in soft tissue repair for years and is supported by related literature. This article describes the results of a case of gastrocnemius muscle tear treated with amnion matrix allograft combined with platelet-rich plasma (PRP). The case suffered a complete tear of the left medial head of the gastrocnemius muscle and did not respond well to PRP and conservative treatments. Amnion matrix allograft combined with PRP was chosen to substitute surgical intervention considering the risk of surgery. Follow-up showed good recovery of life functions, and the MRI showed a disappearance of the tear site without fluid accumulation. We conclude that amniotic membrane allograft matrix combined with PRP an alternative treatment choice if PRP or conservative treatment is not satisfactory for the calf tear.
