自由軟體開發模組化理論之研究

摘要

自由軟體的源代碼可以免費獲得，是一種典型私人提供公共物品的經濟現象，依傳統經濟學理論難以對自由軟體的動機進行有說服力的解釋。因此本文利用模組化理論及賽局分析加以解析，研究結果顯示，對於開發而言，在模組化結構的自由軟體開發中，其收益明顯增加，且高於「搭便車」者的收益，而在非模具化結構的自由軟體開發過程中參與開發者的收益要明顯低於「搭便車」者的收益，由此可知，基於模組化的自由軟體開發對開發者具有更大的吸引力。在此基礎上本文結合GNU／Linux開發的歷程分析了自由軟體源代碼內部結構的模組化屬性在軟體開發中所起的重要作用，並探討模具化理論在其他產業的應用。
