《山海經》西王母的正神屬性考

摘要

一般認為《山海經》中的西王母是凶神，掌刑殺之氣。但是，這種認識不符合《山海經》原文的實際。在《山海經》中，西王母所處的環境是樂園性質的玉山、昆侖山；她的神職「司天之厲與五殘」乃是掌握天空的厲鬼和預示灾害、死亡的星辰，從而預知灾難與死亡。這表明她並非凶神，而是具有正面性質的神。這是戰國之後西王母發展為明確的掌握不死藥的吉神的前提條件。

According to the popular conception, the character of Xi Wang Mu in Shan Hai Jing is a demon. This is not accord with the original text. In Shan Hai Jing, Xi Wang Mu is a goddess with a essential figure like human being.Her abode is Kunlun and Yushan, one is the holy mountain,the other is like a paradise. Her duty is predicting the calamity, not bringing the misfortune. She can help people to evade the calamity.
