Canola oil has been used as material source for transesterification reaction. Under the condition of oil/methanol molar ratio of 1:9 at 60℃ for 1 h without further incubation time, more fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) would be generated from canola oil. The highest amount of FAMEs (0.786 g mL^(-1) biodiesel) analyzed by GC was obtained under 550 W for 10 min by microwave-assisted transesterification. In considering the amount of biodiesel or FAMEs and reaction time, microwave-assisted transesterification of canola oil exceeds traditional transesterification method.
