摘要

本文試對近代文藝暨學術大師臺靜農（1902－1990）在研究民間文學、小說、戲曲等俗文學領域的成果與影響。做一次比較全面性的鳥瞰與述評，肯定其貢獻。全篇分成六個單元。壹〈引言〉、貳〈臺氏事略〉，交代論文撰述之緣起，提供臺先生本人重點式背景資料。參〈民間文學資料搜集與探討〉、肆〈古體小說與通俗小說的研析〉、伍〈說唱與搬演藝術的會通〉，分別從臺氏涉足歌謠與民俗的調查整理，接受魯迅、胡適等人熱衷古典小說考證研討的啟發，以及因講授中國文學史而關注傳統戲曲三個面向，按照相關論著發表先後，透過扼要的摘要錄與評介，予以聯系貫串，探索其學術前進的道路與旨趣，並加以整合評估，突顯他在俗文學研究上的重要成就。陸〈餘論〉，則是讚揚臺先生的博通、專精與兼容並蓄之學術風範。
