Currently liver cancer is the leading cause of death due to cancer for Taiwanese men, and the second leading cause of death due to cancer for Taiwanese women. Liver cancer is difficult to diagnose and is often not discovered until in its late stages. Consequently the survival rate is extremely low. Due to recent advances in medicine, doctors can make use of biochemical blood analysis to detect liver cancer earlier and thus begin treatment sooner. Exceptional results can be obtained if standard treatment is combined with Chinese medicine to induce cellular apoptosis. Increasing the survival rate of people with liver cancer would undoubtedly be good news for those afflicted.
