Child hood diarrhea generally refers to an increase in the frequency, volume or wateriness of bowel movements. A more objective and scientific standard is, if the amount of stool an infant passes exceeds 20 grams for each kilogram of body weight or 200 grams for each kilogram of weight for children and adolescents, then it can be diagnose as diarrhea. If the duration of diarrhea exceeds two weeks then it is defined as chronic diarrhea.
