Luo Ru-fang, born between Zhengde and Wanli in the Ming Dynasty, was a direct disciple of Wang Yang-ming and a third generation descendant of Wang Gen, the founder of the Taizhou School. He taught that conscience proper could be attained by means of an accessible and immediate methodology. His thesis extended Wang Yang-ming's contention that all people can be saints by approaching the ”innate conscience”. Luo Ru-fang accomplished Wang Yang-ming's doctrine and, as an outstanding scholar of the Taizhou School, followed Wang Gen in advocating the practice of conscience in daily life without thought or study.
