While the COVID-19 pandemic led to difficulties in conducting traditional face-to-face psychotherapy, telepsychotherapy emerged as a potential solution. Is telepsychotherapy a last resort, or can it actually break through the limitations of traditional psychotherapy and present previously unexplored advantages? To this end, this paper addresses three aspects of telepsychotherapy: (1) the therapeutic relationship; (2) the therapeutic presence; and (3) the evaluation procedure (including informed consent). The paper first invites the audience to consider the possibility that telepsychotherapy can confer benefits for the core aspects of the therapeutic relationship. Secondly, the paper briefly compiles specific recommendations on how to strengthen the therapeutic presence in telepsychotherapy, and offers new directions for reflection from the perspectives of "therapists who conduct telepsychotherapy" compared to the user experiences of "clients who receive telepsychotherapy," focusing on the differences between "professional logic" and "user logic" mentioned above. Finally, in terms of the evaluation procedure of telepsychotherapy, this paper provides recommendations for evaluating the appropriateness of this treatment for new and existing clients, as well as a sample adult informed consent form.
