日間照顧中心工作人員失智症照顧知識及在職教育需求之探討

摘要


目的:國內「日間照顧中心」為落實在地老化之長期照護服務模式之一。失智症病人使用日間照顧服務有增加趨勢,然而工作人員對失智症照顧知識現況及其在職教育需求強度,將影響病人照顧品質。故探討日間照顧中心工作人員對於失智症病人照顧知識及在職教育需求。方法:採用橫斷式研究設計,以失智症照顧知識及在職教育需求量表,於台中14家及高雄10家日間照顧中心共149位工作人員進行結構式問卷資料收集,並以SPSS 20.0進行統計分析探討。結果:工作人員失智症照顧知識的答對率為71%,對於失智症的疾病概論及症狀部分得分最低;在職教育需求平均強度為4.61分,介於「需要」及「非常需要」之間。參與失智症照顧在職教育的興趣程度影響工作人員對於失智症照顧知識及在職教育需求。工作人員的失智症照顧知識得分與在職教育需求呈顯著正相關(r=0.19, p<0.01)。結論:日間照顧中心工作人員失智症照顧知識為中等程度,對於失智症在職教育需求強度高。建議於日間照顧中心工作人員的養成教育及在職教育課程中提供失智症照護課程,以增進工作人員之失智症照顧專業知識及提升失智症病人照顧品質。

Purposes: Daycare centers are part of the long-term care model for older adults in Taiwan. Dementia patients requiring daycare services have increased dramatically. However, the staff's knowledge and continuing education will influence the quality of dementia care. Therefore, this study was to explore the knowledge and continuing education needs of dementia care among staff in daycare centers. Methods: A cross-sectional study design was conducted to explore the aims. Scales of knowledge and continuing education needs of dementia care were used to collect data among 149 staff from 14 daycare centers in Taichung city and 10 others in Kaohsiung city. The collected data were analyzed by using SPSS Windows version 20.0. Results: The rate of correct answers for knowledge of dementia care was 71%. The item with the lowest score was knowledge of the introduction to dementia and dementia symptoms. The intensity level of continuing education needs was 4.61 and ranged from "need" to "strongly need." The level of interest in participating in continuing education on dementia care significantly influenced the knowledge and continuing education needs of dementia care. Knowledge levels and intensity of continuing education needs of dementia care were significantly positively correlated (r=0.19, p<0.01). Conclusions: Staff in daycare centers for older adults with dementia has a moderate level of knowledge of dementia care. Their intensity of continuing education needs on dementia care was high and significantly correlated to their knowledge level of dementia. This study suggests that staff in daycare centers should be provided with training and continuing education courses for dementia care to upgrade their professional knowledge of dementia care and to promote the quality of dementia care.
