Motion sickness, which has bothered human beings since ancient times, is a severe physical situation that involves dizziness, headache, and even nausea. Currently, there are two primary theories that explain motion sickness: first, the Sensory Conflict Theory (Reason, 1978; Reason & Brand, 1975); second, the Postural Instability Theory by Riccio and Stoffregen (1991). Thanks to the new advances in modern technology, several technological products have made great impacts on human's life. For instance, transportation stimulators (such as mobiles, airplanes, and tanks) are often used to train novice drivers and pilots, which helps saving great costs and unnecessary wasted resources. However, the motion sickness problem that accompanies transportation stimulators would significantly decrease its efficiency. Take driving experiences and age factor for example, these are the key factors that people consider what influences motion sickness when manipulating transportation stimulators. This study introduces motion sickness and some documents of its related theories. In addition, the purpose of this study is to investigate how driving experiences of vehicle or aircraft and age factor would affect motion sickness when manipulating transportation stimulators in virtual environments.
