A taxonomy structure classifies items into different categories. Conducting mining sequential patterns with taxonomy structures will help to find out the order between itemsets that can be product items or categories of similar products. Existing algorithms for mining sequential patterns with taxonomy structures require that each item belongs to a single category in a taxonomy structure. This limits the application of the sequential patterns. The researcher proposes a method to classify product items into categories using fuzzy taxonomy structures. A fuzzy taxonomy tructure allows a product item to be classified into more than one category. In this paper, the researcher develops a new algorithm for mining sequential patterns with fuzzy taxonomy structures. These patterns may provide useful management strategies in marketing.
