Judo is a competitive form of traditional Japanese martial art. Because of the rules and techniques used in Judo competitions, Judo athletes face special physiological challenge during a Judo match. The review of literature indicated that Judo is a sport with high intensity, short duration with work to rest ratio around 2:1. Phosphogen, glycolysis and oxidative systems are all used in a Judo match. As the match goes on, the athletes will experience increase in oxygen consumption, fatigue, and decrease in muscular strength. Judo athletes reveal superior balance and strength.
