青少年參與漆彈運動之刺激尋求動機與休閒效益研究

The Study of Sensation Seeking Motivation and the Leisure Benefits in Youth Paintball Players

摘要


漆彈運動(Paintball Games)自1980年起於美國開始萌芽發展,已有20年的歷史。根據2002年National Sporting Goods Association (NSGA)調查目前是全球快速成長的運動,並成為青少年冒險遊憩中最受歡迎的一項。然而其他項目的戶外遊憩活動,例如:登山、探索教育活動和滑雪已有相關研究成果,但近年受歡迎的漆彈活動卻較少了解其參與者狀況。因此,本研究主要目的有二:一為探討青少年刺激尋求之高低對於個人背景與參與其他冒險性活動之差異情形。二為暸解青少年刺激尋求動機之高低對於漆彈活動滿意度與休閒效益之差異情形。本研究修改Zuckerman (1979)開發的刺激尋求量表第五版(Sensational Seeking Scale, SSS)和休閒效益量表,並針對青少年漆彈玩家做問卷訪談,取得299份問卷。研究結果顯示:青少年的刺激尋求心理特質並無顯著的影響在整體參與漆彈運動之滿意度、未來參與漆彈活動的可能性、以及個人休閒效益。但就整體休閒效益說明,青少年追求高刺激的漆彈參與者比追求低刺激者獲得較高的滿意度。

Since the 1980s, paintball game has grown in popularity and has been around for about 20 years. According to a survey by the National Sporting Goods Association (NSGA) in 2002, paintball game is the fastest growing sport and has become as a popular form of adventure recreations among young people. While other forms of outdoor recreation activities (e.g. mountaineering, project adventure (PA), skiing and etc.) have been studied, paintball game till receive little attention on understanding of its participants. The purpose of this research is twofold. First, the research explores psychometric characteristics of youth players participating in paintball game and their leisure consumption behaviour. Second, the research empirically examines the relationship between sensation seeking motivation and leisure benefits attained through participation of paintball game. Modified Zuckerman's (1979) sensational seeking scale (SSS), Form V and benefits of leisure scale were administered to 299 youth paintball players. The findings do not provide strong evidence that psychological characteristics of sensation seeking had a significant effect on overall satisfaction of paintball tournament, the likelihood to participate paintball game in the future and individual attribute of leisure benefits. However, in terms of overall leisure benefits, high SSS respondents obtained more satisfaction than respondents who score low SSS.
