Supernumerary teeth are more common in the maxilla and in the permanent dentition. The most common type is mesiodens, which refers to supernumerary teeth located between maxillary central incisors. Mesiodens is usually discovered during routine radiographic exam for malalignment or unerupted upper incisors. The case presented is a 9-year-10-month old male with a mesiodens located at the apex of upper incisors and near the labial cortical bone. The supernumerary tooth was labially approached and removed by flap surgery. The timings of surgical intervention for mesiodens are discussed.
