摘要

我們先將介紹拉鐵摩爾的生平，再來整理他對於邊疆地方、邊疆的擴張、以及地緣政治下的亞洲內陸的觀點，接著嘗試觀察他對於蒙古的民族主義、及徬徨於中國與日本之間的內蒙古的看法，最後理解他對於外蒙古在國際上的大戰略、以及衛星國家地位選擇的評價。

We shall begin with a brief review of the life of Owen Lattimore, followed by the introduction of his views on frontier, expansion of frontier, and Inner Asia under geopolitics. We then look into how he observed Mongolian nationalism and Inner Mongolia wavering between China and Japan. Finally, we will manage to understand how he judge Outer Mongolia's grand strategy and her choice as a satellite state.
