Critical Factors of Educational Institutions Adoption for BS 10012: Persional Information Management System

Personal Information Protection Act has passed in Taiwan in May, 2010 and relevant policy has been implemented in October, 2012. Most of the domestic educational institutions concentrated on constructing the personal information management system and reduced the risk of personal information leakage. In this study, diffusion of innovation theory and TOE framework are proposed to evaluate the critical factor that influences the adaption of BS 10012 certification. The key factors, which includes characteristics of environment, educational institution, personal information management system and etc., are used to determine whether the educational institution has adopted BS 10012 certification or not. Questionnaire survey is applied to the staff that works in educational institution and the analysis result indicates that the reputation of school, the support of senior staff and the comparative advantage will have more influence on the adaption of BS 10012 certification.
