A Comparison Study of Guanxi in China and Singapore Business Activities

摘要

本論文的目的在於研究中國傳統文化中的“關係”在中國和新加坡現代商業社會不同的應用，旨在揭示關係在不同社會制度和文化環境下的差異性。本研究分別以中新兩地具有代表性的知名學府的MBA、EMBA學員為主要研究物件，採取調查問卷的方式進行資料獲取。共收集中國樣本169個，新加坡樣本122個。對中新兩群樣本的各題項利用雙樣本異方差假設t檢驗來對比分析兩地在“關係”培養方式、“關係”利用、“關係”終結三個方面的差異性。研究結果發現，中新兩地在本次研究的三個方面共16個題項測試中，存在明顯差異的有10項，無明顯差異的有6項。另外，對新加坡樣本中的在新居住時間長短和前面研究的三個方面的“關係”問題進行了相關係數r的相關分析，分析結果表明，人們對各種“關係”問題的態度與在新加坡居住時間長短有一定的相關，但總的來說相關性較為薄弱。

The object of this research is to find the influences of ”Guanxi” (which is derived from Confucianism) to business activities in China and Singapore. We hope to compare its differences in this issue in the two societies. A survey was designed and carried out I Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China. Each attendant was asked to complete a questionnaire. We received 169 and 122 replies in China and Singapore respectively. The Cronbach coefficient (α) confirmed the reliability of these samples and their validity for sociology research. A t-test was conducted to each reply to the 16 questions used in the survey between Singapore and China samples. These questions mainly cover the cultivation, development, and termination of Guanxi. Our results found obvious differences in 10 questions and no obvious differences in the rest 6 questions. In addition, we also analyzed the correlation between their replies and the length of their staying in Singapore among Singapore samples. Although the replies were affected by the period of stay, this correlation is very weak.This research helps readers to understand Guanxi in Singapore and China business activities and can be used as a guide when dealing with related affairs.
