Digital photography has the advantage of higher magnification than traditional photography of same lens, thus make it apowerful tool not only to take picture of raptors but also help identification. Herein I selected photographs of two species, Oriental Honey-buzzarsd(Pernis ptilorhyncus) and immature Crested Serpent-eagle(Spilornis cheela), mostly taken during 2003 spring migration survey at northern Taiwan. Photographs are shown with field identification explanatory notes. Comparison between Oriental Honey-buzzard and Western Honey-buzzard (Pernis apivorus), as well as different maturation stage of Crested Serpent-eagles, is also discucced. Field study with the help of digital photography may solve these problems in the near future.
