The patient is a 40-year-old female with 5 years of history of controlling her blood sugar with no satisfying effect. She has a history of hearing impairment, fungal otitis externa, vision impairment, chronic conjunctivitis and vaginal candidiasis. Since she started working in a nursing facility in Aug. 2000, she started to experience itchiness and rash on the lower extremities and spread to chest, abdomen and back. Some rashes appear to have pus on the top and scars. Her bowel movement is once a day with difficulties. Urination is normal. Coating is white with patches. Tongue is pink and cracked. Pulse is deep. The dermatology department has given her antihistamine and steroids for external use, but the result is limited. The lab result shows normal IgE and kidney function. TCM applies herbs that clear heat, detoxify drain pus, and relieve swelling. The patient feels improvement in the degree of itchiness at night as well as swelling and pus in the skin.
