The Expression of CAV-1 and MMP-2 in Patients with Psoriasis Vulgaris

尋常型銀屑病患者CAV-1和MMP-2表達的檢測

摘要

Objective: To explore the expression of caveolin-1 (CAV-1) and matrix metalloproteinase -2(MMP-2) in patients with psoriasis vulgaris and its clinical significance. Methods: The biopsies were taken from skin lesions in 65 patients with psoriasis vulgaris and the skin of l5 normal controls. The expression of CAV-1 and MMP-2 were detected by the SP immunohistochemical method. Results: The expression level of MMP-2 in psoriasis vulgaris were significantly higher than that in the normal controls (P<0.01); the expression of CAV-1 in psoriasis vulgaris were lower that in the controls (P<0.05). CAV-1 was negative associated with MMP-2 in psoriasis vulgaris (r=-0.425, P<0.01). Conclusion: It was concluded that CAV-1, MMP-2 might play important roles in the occurrence and progression of psoriasis, which suggested that CAV-1 might inhibit secretion of MMP-2. Downregulation of CAV-1 that may serve as an aetiological factor in the development of psoriasis. The overexpression of MMP-2 could be responsible for cell-cell and cell-matrix changes noted in psoriatic epidermis.Further mechanistic investigations are required with the potential that CAV-1/MMP-2 protein may be a novel target for therapy of psoriasis.
