This case is a thirty-six years old man who visited clinic due to alopecia areata and eyebrows fall off both sides, was diagnosed as immune dysfunction. He received treatment with steroid and minoxidil, but the effect is not well and he was afraid of the side effect of steroid. So he seeked the help of Chinese medicine. The traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) diagnosis are liver depression and spleen deficiency combine with blood deficiency syndrome, so we used the principle of soothe the liver and fortify the spleen with nourish blood, dispel wind with clear heat and eliminate dampness to treat. During the period of the TCM treatment, the patient's alopecia areata was improving with decreasing hair lost, and the eyebrows regrew gradually. Regular clinic follow-up was performed and patient had stable condition.
