The purpose of this paper was to review the existing instruments for assessing auditory hallucinations. Instruments related to the phenomenology, clinical characteristics, emotional and behavioral reactions, attitudes, beliefs, and severity, of hallucinations were discussed. Fourteen study sources from medical, nursing, and psychological journals were researched. The results revealed that auditory hallucination instruments could provide dimensions of assessment of auditory hallucination for nursing professionals. Methodological issues concerning such matters as research participants, data collection, and instruments should be suggested for nursing professionals in the future.
