Taking references from Formosa under the Dutch published by William Campbell (1871-1921) and six volumes of ”Archief voor de Geschiedenis der Oude Hollandsche Zending” (1884-1891) by Jacobus Anne Grothe (1815-1899), William Abraham Ginsel (1906-2002) mentioned in his dissertation (1931) that several pieces of hymns were composed by those missionaries residing in Taiwan in the 17th century. All the information indicates that the church authority of Taiwan ever asked Amsterdam van de Nederlands Hervormde Kerk to donate 1000 Psalm books in 1648.Based on the referred 1000 Psalm books in Ginsel's dissertation, the focus of this paper is therefore on the research and analysis of the historical materials and archives of Christian music in the period of Formosa under the Dutch, especially the referred Sincan dialect ”Lord's Prayer”.
