This article describes a foreign bride from Vietnam who got unaccommodated with language, culture and life and faced multiple roles adaptation about childbirth and newborn care. The nursing period was since Jan 14, 2005 to Jan 17, 2005 and the author performed semi-structure conversations in order to collect data. The author observed this postpartum woman's language and non-language behavior in this period, to analyze and to generalize certain nursing issues including acute pain, risk for impaired parents/infant attachment, impaired verbal communication and ineffective breast feeding. We helped the case to solve the unaccommodation about physical, psychological and cultural difference, to enhance the case self care ability and to adapt stress in postpartum. The author also assisted the patient to play the role of mother successfully, quality of nursing care for improved the postpartum woman and newborn.
