This paper aims to explore the influential factors regarding psychological perception of career persistence in multiplicity proficiency workers and find out the optimum models and conditions for adapting a non-linear career path. Through a mixed factorial design, we conducted the study by considering three potential factors: positive illusions (including unrealistic optimism and sense of control), self-serving bias attribution and a limited time perspective (mortality salience). A total of 219 multiplicity proficiency workers (average age = 38.92) participated in the study. Results showed that unrealistic optimism and mortality salience positively predicted the participants' intention to maintain their slasher careers while personalizing bias of self-serving bias attribution negatively predicted participants' intention to maintain their slasher careers. The conclusion suggests that although positive illusion and limited time perspective brought benefits to maintain the participants' slasher careers, it needs to maintain a lower self-serving bias at the same time. This demonstrated that they could be more authentic and adjust their wrongdoings to meet the responsible attitude of being an independent slasher for attaining a more determined and long-term non-linear career.
